Dr. Ali Wagdy Mohamed
Biography
Ali Wagdy Mohamed received his B.Sc., M.Sc., and PhD degrees from Cairo University in 2000, 2004, and 2010, respectively. He is currently a Professor and Chair of Operations, Supply Chain, and Technology Management at the Business School, University of Science and Technology at Zewail City. His academic specialization focuses on Optimization, Statistics, and Data Science.
He has been appointed as a member of the National Committee of Mathematics and the National Committee of Artificial Intelligence at the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology in Egypt. Throughout his academic career, he has received several prestigious awards, including the Distinguished Scientific Research and Publication Quality Award from Cairo University for the period 2012–2025. In 2024, he was also honored with the Scientific Excellence Award in Inter-science and Future Sciences from Cairo University.
In 2025, he received the Obada Prize, an international award recognizing distinguished scientists. Additionally, he has been listed among the top 2% of scientists worldwide according to the Stanford University Report for the years 2020–2025.
He serves as a reviewer for more than 100 international accredited top-tier journals and works as an associate editor for the Swarm and Evolutionary Computation Journal published by Elsevier, in addition to serving on the editorial boards of several other journals.
He published more than 200 papers in reputed and high impact journals. He was the editor and co-editor for more than 5 books in the area of operations Research, computational intelligence and Data Science.
He is interested in mathematical and statistical modeling, stochastic and deterministic optimization, swarm intelligence and evolutionary computation. Additionally, he is also interested in real world problems such as industrial, transportation, manufacturing, education and capital investment problems.
