Prof. Dr. Hala M. Ebied is a Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision at the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences (FCIS), Ain Shams University, Egypt, since 2019. She currently serves as the Dean of the School of Computational Science and Artificial Intelligence at Zewail City of Science, Technology, and Innovation.

Prof. Dr. Ebied graduated with honors in Pure Mathematics and Computer Science from the Faculty of Science, Ain Shams University. She received her M.Sc. in Computer and Information Sciences from Ain Shams University in 2002. Between 2006 and 2008, she conducted her doctoral research at the Heinz Nixdorf Institute, University of Paderborn, Germany, through a joint program with Ain Shams University, and received her Ph.D. in Computer and Information Sciences in 2009.

Prior to joining Zewail City, Prof. Dr. Ebied held several key academic positions at FCIS, Ain Shams University. She served as Acting Vice Dean for Postgraduate and Research Affairs in 2015, was the Director of the Quality Unit from 2016 to 2018, and became Head of the Scientific Computing Department in 2018. From August 2018 to January 2026, she served as Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs.

Prof. Dr. Ebied’s research interests include Neural Networks, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, and Machine Learning. She has co-authored approximately 100 research papers published in reputable refereed journals and international conferences, reflecting her dedication to advancing computational intelligence and its real-world applications.
