Dr. Mohamed Sami Rakha
Biography
Dr. Mohamed Sami Rakha is an Assistant Professor in the Software Development Program at the School of Computational Science and Artificial Intelligence, University of Science and Technology (UST), Zewail City. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Queen’s University, Canada, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in collaboration with IBM Canada.
His research focuses on Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Analytics, with an emphasis on developing practical AI-driven solutions for real-world challenges. He has published in top-tier venues, including IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering and ICSE.
Dr. Rakha has strong entrepreneurial experience, having founded, led, and contributed to industry-driven research and innovation projects that secured competitive grants to develop impactful AI technologies. His work spans large-scale software systems, database systems, accessibility evaluation, and data-intensive platforms, in collaboration with local and international academic and industry partners.
He also has extensive teaching experience in courses such as Introduction to Software Engineering, User Interface Development, and Big Data Analytics.
In addition, Dr. Rakha has gained substantial industry experience in both the Egyptian and Canadian markets.
