Dr. Asmaa Aly Harraz
Biography
Dr. Asmaa Harraz earned her PhD in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London in 2022, where her research focused on clean energy processes. She also received the Diploma of Imperial College (DIC). She holds an MSc in Chemical Engineering and a BSc in Gas and Petrochemical Engineering from Alexandria University, graduating with honours.
She is an Assistant Professor in the Chemical Engineering Department at Alexandria University and, since September 2024, a full-time faculty member (on secondment) in the Environmental Engineering Program at Zewail City for Science, Technology, and Innovation, following her Adjunct Assistant Professor appointment in October 2023. She teaches Material and Energy Balances, Heat Transfer, Process Analysis and Simulation, Separation Processes, Water Desalination, and Phase Equilibria.
Her research focuses on clean energy processes, process systems engineering, digital twinning of energy and environmental systems, techno-economic assessment, and sustainable water and wastewater treatment. Her work includes solar refrigeration, organic Rankine cycles, hybrid solar systems, and working-fluid selection for thermodynamic cycles.
A Newton–Mosharafa Scholar, she actively collaborates internationally and is committed to advancing practical clean energy and sustainable environmental solutions.
