Prof. Dr. Mohamed H. Alkordi
Biography
Professor Mohamed H. Alkordi is a Professor of Chemistry & Material Science, former Director of the Research Office and Associate Dean for Graduate Studies at Zewail City of Science and Technology in Egypt. Prof. Alkordi is a Founding Faculty Member at Zewail City since its inauguration in 2012. Alkordi obtained his B.Sc. from Alexandria University in 2005, Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of South Florida (USA) in 2010, then joined KAUST (KSA) as postdoctoral fellow till 2012. He is currently the Co-Founder and Co-Director for the Center of Material Science and the Director of Material Science Program at ZC.
His research focuses on the innovation and engineering of novel materials aimed at mitigating environmental impacts. His group has a strong track record working in the field of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and porous material for the development of advanced catalysts for water splitting, developing tailored material for wastewater treatment, as well as materials for energy storage and conversion including batteries and supercapacitors.
Dr. Alkordi has held prestigious visiting positions at leading institutions, including the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (Germany), Imperial College in London, University of Limerick (Ireland). His prolific output includes over 80 publications in top-tier scientific journals and several patents related to metal-organic frameworks and energy-efficient materials.
He has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Egyptian State Award (2017), Accolade of Excellency-First Grade (Egypt), Georg Forster Fellowship (Germany), and was also selected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK).
